The NCWE Awards are an annual awards scheme which celebrate organisations across the UK - whatever their size or industry - that display very good practice in work experience.

Winners are announced at our annual awards presentation, held in central London. As well as promoting work experience and the benefits it can bring to the students, the organisations involved and the economy, it offers a fantastic afternoon out, filled with networking opportunities.

Here's what some of our guests thought about the 2011 Awards, which was held last March at London's Merchant Taylors' Hall:

"We are delighted to win our award this year and feel this will be invaluable to our placement programme. I would like to thank the NCWE and Prospects team for the event and for the work they have done. The NCWE Awards is an excellent opportunity for employers to promote their placements/work experience."

Emily Hickman, Recruitment Manager, Lidl Limited

"Fantastic venue and a really enjoyable event – a great way to celebrate work experience."

Shona McKenzie, Graduate Recruitment Officer, The Co-operative

"An excellent venue with a great mix of employers and organisations (which in itself shows the standing that the NCWE Awards has). The NCWE Awards are really important to organisations as it recognises and rewards the valuable work they do for and with our students. I thought the event was fantastic and really well organised. A great opportunity for networking too. Thanks for a great day!"

Kathryn Foot, Work Experience Adviser, Cardiff University Careers Service

"At a time when all news seems bad – this is a ray of light. A genuinely good cause! A much-needed face-to-face intersection of industry in the UK, a hub of networking – brilliant!"

Lisa Jeffery, Marketing and Communications Manager, The Avalon Group

"I especially liked the fact that the NCWE is not a money making enterprise and the awards feel more refined than other events, enabling networking with a range of other placement providers."

Jane Measures, Intern Programme Manager, bp

"We were delighted to be shortlisted at our first attempt. Our recruitment team feel that the ability to advertise our NCWE Award Finalist status will certainly raise the profile and credibility of our work experience scheme with prospective interns. We also thought that the venue was really excellent and the food was great."

Lois Owen, Workforce Development, Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ)

"The venue was fantastic! It really complimented the celebratory and special nature of the event. I also felt that the format of the awards was very good, particularly the fact that a short explanation and quote from the review panel of why the award winner won was given before each award winner went up to accept their certificate."

Sophie Turner, Volunteer Resourcing Advisor, Cancer Research UK

"The NCWE Awards has given us a boost as a company. We put a lot of time and energy into providing quality work experience placements and it’s wonderful to get some recognition for it, particularly at a national level. We thoroughly enjoyed the event and were delighted to be able to return to the office with the great news that we’d come second in our category! Thanks for all your hard work and energy in creating the event and in administrating the awards."

Lucy Bradshaw, Administrator, London Bubble Theatre Company

"A fantastic event, Ruth Badger was a great public speaker, loved the champagne reception and the food was very good. Obviously winning a couple of awards was incredible as well! Thank you!!"

Alex Merry, Programme Director, Champions Life Academy

"Thank you for organising such a fantastic event, everything from the venue to the host all the way down to the food was perfect, we really enjoyed it. It was overall a lovely event, the food and venue was amazing and Ruth Badger was really inspiring. And as you can imagine, the whole team was quite pleased with the outcome - it is still sinking in on my part! Once more thanks to the whole team for a wonderful day."

Charline Roberts, Brand and Recruitment Coordinator, Champions Life Academy

"The event was most enjoyable and a great success as usual, many thanks to all who must have worked so hard."

Jane Ledbury, Programme Leader MSc Clothing, Manchester Metropolitan University

"Great opportunity for networking with other professionals. Great awards, keep up the good work!"

Ben McEwen, General Manager, Lexington Catering Ltd.

"The food and drinks was very good and it was great that we got to meet other finalists on the day (a great way to network). I thought overall it was very well organised and a well thought out day."

Ruth Akins, BBC Journalism Trainee Scheme

"A really excellent event and standard and format that we aspire to for our Society National Awards (in the years to come). We particularly enjoyed the venue; food and service, plus the breadth of companies attending and winning (always good to see SMEs so well represented)."

Simon Reichwald, Director, Bright Futures

"An excellent event and some inspiring practice."

Margaret Dane, Chief Executive, AGCAS

"Firstly I would like to thank you for a wonderful day. NCWE did an excellent job with the awards reception and both myself and my guest had a really good time. Of course it was topped off by winning an award but it would have been a great day never the less. The food was a delight and the venue was excellent and ideal."

David Bucke, IT Helpdesk Manager, National Oceanography Centre

"A great venue and speaker. Ruth Badger was very inspirational and did a great job of handing out the awards and creating a very vibrant atmosphere."

Andrea Labrum, Graduate Recruitment, Student Placements & International Assignments, Lockheed Martin UK

"Really impressed with how well organised the event was, as well as the venue and the quality of the food etc. It made it a really nice celebration of hard work and quality provision within our sector and it was really interesting to meet others providing different offers to students and hear about their experiences."

Emma Pajarillaga, Barnardo's

"Thank you for the invitation to attend the awards ceremony; I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a splendid occasion in a fitting setting and very well organised. It is always impressive to see the variety of different organisations involved and the varying approaches being taken to internships and work experience. Speaking to a number of attendees, the level of enthusiasm and the benefits to both the organisation and the individual were very evident."
